5 Steps to Start
Generally:
- Get proof of education (High School diploma, A levels, or equivalent).
- Register online via www.uni-salzburg.at/studium
- Personally register at the registration office (Kapitelgasse 4).
- Pay the ÖH-Beitrag (student union contribution). Paying Student tuition is relatively rare. Further information here.
- Sign up for courses via PlusOnline (online.uni-salzburg.at)

Study Prerequisites
As alway, the upcoming semester doesn't have any extra requirements for our new students. A high school diploma (A-Levels, or equivalent) is the only prerequisite to study here.
Tuition
In principle, only the ÖH-Beitrag (student union contribution) needs to be paid.
But students from non EU countries come under different regulations.

Curriculum
The curriculum (PDF in german) contains the legal requirements for the selected bachelor. It also lists the set of course that must be completed, with their ECTS workload, and other required curriculum components and also all necessary regulation and explanations (courses, elective subjects, practical components, modules, …)

How do I register for courses?
The course you must enroll in can be found the in current curriculum (here). The plan you will find there, shows you how many semester hours (Sst. aka Semesterstunden) the respective lecture has (LV aka "Lehrveranstaltung"), what type of course it is (PS - Introductory Seminar aka "Proseminar", VO - Lecture aka "Vorlesung" and VP - Lecture with seminar aka "Vorlesungsproseminar") and the ECTS points. Also listed with each course is a note of which courses can be done in which semester. This is just a recommendation, albeit a good one.
For example (Bachelor of computer science):
The first semester is structured to have 9 mandatory courses and 1 free choice course.
On the page "Curricula" you can find the various modules in the degree program (In the respective PDF (German)).
On the page "Bachelor Thesis" you will find all the necessary information on the Bachelor Thesis and the subsequent completion of your degree.
Registration for our courses
Login to PlusOnline with your student id number (matrikelnummer) and click through on the left menu "Fakultäten" - "Naturwissenschaftliche Fakultät" - "Fachbereiche" - "FB Computerwissenschaften". Here you can see all the currently offered courses and register for the chosen courses with the button "Anmeldung" by the respective course.

Mentoring
In WS (winter semester) 2017/18 a mentor program has again been offered.
To offer you better guidance, we want - university teachers mentoring small groups of 6 - 8 students - to help students through the first semester. This guidance comes mostly in the form of 3 to 4 meetings spread throughout the semester. The material covered in these meetings can be any of the following:
- General tips on studying
- Practical information on LVs, including highlighting their process
- Answering questions
- Discussing problems
Computer- and Resource Usage
In the department's building, Jakob-Haringer-Straße 2, there are many high quality computers and and peripherals, connected to an extremely good network, at your service. To use these computers, an application needs to be submitted with your student Id card. The form for this application will be distributed in the first week in the introductory lecture. Aside from other regulations, the usage policy for these computers states that they are only to be used for work in the realms of education and research. Therefore the minimum requirement for using them is participating in a corresponding course or working on a project.
