The Young Investigators Award annually honors young researchers of the University of Salzburg with outstanding scientific results. This year, the Database Research Group at the Department of Computer Sciences was very successful. Out of 27 submissions, two Ph.D. students of the group, Daniel Kocher and Thomas Hütter, were able to impress a jury of experts. Both presented their works next to five other finalists at the "Tag der Universität”. Finally, Thomas Hütter was ranked first and was awarded the YIA2019 for his work "Effective Filters and Linear Time Verification for Tree Similarity Joins”.
